What will I learn in this subject?
You will hone and further develop the skills you have built at National 5 level, with a focus on developing analytical skills that stretch and challenge you as never before.
What will I do and how will I learn?
You will follow a rigorous assessment calendar and be challenged by such classic Scottish texts as ‘Sunset Song’ and ‘Cone-Gatherers’. As well as this, your ability to read closely and analyse detail will be further developed. You will be expected to take responsibility for a comprehensive and creative folio as well as your own development in English.
How will my success as a learner be assessed?
To gain National 6, learners must pass both Units and the Course Assessment (the Portfolio and the exam)
Units are assessed by the school (following SQA External Verification)
The Course Assessment consists of the Portfolio ( a folio consisting of edited pieces from two different genres) and the exam. These will be marked by the SQA.
