Responsibilities
Each year group from S1 to S6 has a Principal Teacher of Pupil Support and should be known by every pupil in their year group. Pupils see their Pupil Support teacher regularly through tutor time visits and tracking and monitoring meetings within the school. Formal one-to-one interviews, year group assemblies and PSHE lessons are also vital in providing a day-to-day contact for each pupil. Our Pupil Support team are the main link between school and home and should be the first point of contact should a matter need attention/discussion. They work very closely with subject departments to monitor the progress of each pupil and to support the pupil, teacher and parent should a matter arise. Our Support for Learning team work collaboratively with Pupil Support to ensure that all pupils needs are met throughout their time in St Margaret’s High. This may involve Additional Support Needs Assistants providing help and support within classes or Support for Learning teachers who work co-operatively with classroom teachers to help facilitate learning. Staged Intervention strategies are used within St Margaret’s as a means of identifying, assessing, planning, recording and reviewing pupil progress to meet their learning needs and ensure that every pupil is achieving their full potential whilst feeling included and confident in their independent learning.
